P2O5 is a white crystalline solid at room temperature. Its melting point is 340 ̊C (644 ̊F), boiling point 360 ̊C (680 ̊F), density 2.39 g/cm3. P2O5 reacts with water to form phosphoric acid. It can be used as a desiccant.

Example Reactions:
• P2O3 + O2 = P2O5
• P2O5 + 3H2O = 2H3PO4
• P2O5 + 3BaO = Ba3(PO4)2
• P2O5 + 6NaOH = 2Na3PO4 + 3H2O
• 3SiO2 + Ca3(PO4)2 = P2O5 + 3CaSiO3
• Pb3P2 + 4O2 = 3PbO + P2O5
• 3Li2O + P2O5 = 2Li3PO4
• 2P + 5N2O = 5N2 + P2O5
• B2O3 + P2O5 = 2BPO4
• Mg3P2 + 4O2 = P2O5 + 3MgO
